Day 39: Progress

I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with my progress so far, if I do say so myself.

This picture was in yesterday’s post, just provided here for contrast. You can kind of see how much progress I’ve made.
And this is how much I’ve gotten done! Can you see the difference? Maybe a little?

Granted, I am still just working on the body, but I’m plucking away at it. I got 17 rows in yesterday, and at more than 200 stitches per row, that’s not an insignificant amount of progress!

I do have to say, I’m feeling it in my arms. I switched to my 40” cord to accommodate the growing project, and to level out some of the weight, and that has definitely helped! But as I said, I’m still feeling it.

It’s not nearly as bad as the pain that I was experiencing trying to use my dpns to knit up the sleeve, thank goodness. It’s more like the soreness you get from working muscles harder than they’re used to being worked, which makes sense. Nothing like holding up many ounces of wool and working in repetitive motions to really work those lower arm muscles.

Just in case it is more serious than a bit of muscle strain, though, I’m going to take it a bit easier on the sweater knitting. Doing 17 rows is awfully ambitious, I think 10-12 will be plenty. I might not finish it as quickly as I was hoping, but it’s better to be safe.

And I figure just because I’m not knitting my cardigan doesn’t mean I can’t still be knitting. I’ve got a hat that needs to be finished for my dad by Christmas. I think I’ll cast that on, as well.

Oh, and a bit more of an indication of my progress, I finished off another skein of yarn! I can’t remember if that’s skein #2 or #3, I’ll have to check when I get home, but I have to say, it’s very motivating watching the cake run out and being able to start on the next one.

But anyway, that’s all for now guys. Hope you’re all having a good week; for all you 8-5ers like me, we’re halfway done with the week, only a couple more days to go!
