I’m so psyched, I got so much knitting done on this sweater!
I mentioned before, briefly, that I was prepping for a big vacation. Well, I’m on that vacation now, and it’s relevant to current and future posts, so I’m going to tell you a bit about it.
First, destination. My boyfriend, Michael, and I are going to New York for both of our very first trip to New York City. We’re driving all the way, because after our time in NYC, we’re heading up to Maine to stay in a cabin for a vacation from our vacation.
This is quite the road trip for us, so we’ve broken it into a few segments. First stop, Pennsylvania, for a cheap hotel and cheap(er than New York) food.
Now, most knitters hear road trip and they’re like, “Hallelujah, uninterrupted knitting time!” But usually when I’m on a road trip, it just means a lot of time spent in the car with nothing to do with my hands.
The biggest reason that we’ve broken the trip up into several segments is because I tend to get motion sick quite easily, and the longer the car ride, the more susceptible I am to becoming agitated and ill. Becoming agitated and ill inevitably worsens my anxiety, and I end up having an anxiety attack while trapped in the car. Not a fun thing to contend with at any time, least of all on vacation.
Nonetheless, I packed my knitting in the front cab of the car, just in case I was feeling well enough to knit and, magically, I was!
I seem to be ok as long as all I’m doing is knit stitch after knit stitch, in endless stockinette. No counting stitches or rows, or looking up patterns (this is particularly important, since looking at my phone or reading will pretty much instantly make me feel sick).
Which makes this sleeve ideal road trip knitting for me! I know exactly how to knit it because I’ve already knit one of them, and the whole thing is in reverse stockinette. It couldn’t be more perfect.
So, yay for sleeves I guess.
Never thought I’d say that.
I did say above that this trip was going to affect future posts, and I want to just explain quickly.
’m going to be in New York City, guys, and it’s my first time ever, so I’m going to be touristing it up like nobody’s business. That may mean that I won’t have time to write a post every single day.
I’m going to try to keep it up, don’t get me wrong! But if you don’t hear from me for a day or two, don’t worry, I’m probably just too exhausted from hoofing it through Manhattan to find the perfect slice of Pizza.
